Chubby's Tacos

Love this place. I live Downtown and forget that it's here. I wish they would open up a taco joint Downtown. Maybe in the Warehouse district? Wicked Taco is gross. I just love the salsa bar at Chubbys and the tacos are perfection.

Food was good and fast. Order as you walk in then grab a seat. Decor is not plus it posh, prices are a little high.

Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Never had a bad experience here on the 5+ years I've been going.

There was a line out the door and I didn't understand why. Service was good. Food wasn't anything special in my opinion. Maybe I just didn't order the right thing, but I truly didn't get the hype.

We ordered a few things and had the first order completely wrong. We then came to pick up the redemption and messed it up again. Carelessness

Went there on "taco Tuesday" and wasn't really impressed. They didn't have taco specials and the portions were small for the price. The food was ok. The chicken tacos were dry and not too flavorful. The staff seemed annoyed at questions we had and were not very attentive at all. The place has a good atmosphere, very relaxed just not the best food in town.

I really like the food here! The tacos are the best and I also enjoy their variety of salsas. The service is quick and I will definitely he returning for more tacos!

Im usaually very pleased; today I was not. It was before 6pm food was not freshly cooked and portions were smaller than before.

Stopped by Chubby’s in a spur of the moment, drive by taco craving. A bar on both sides of the room and a dozen tacos on the menu make for a great vibe. Each order comes with a side of chips dusted with some spices for a smoky taste. The Baja Fish tacos were excellent — the fish was fried perfectly and the sauce was a perfect match. Chubby’s has great drink choices — sweet tea was good and sweet and their fancy fruit tea was slightly minting and strawberry at the same time. If I’m in the area again I’ll definitely be stopping by.

Good tacos at a great price. Very friendly staff. If you want to stop in for a bit or to go they will have your food out in a jiffy! Their spicy chicken taco is very good!

My first time going to this restaurant was last night and I definitely regret it. I ordered a Baja shrimp burrito and I am now sick. I realized that the shrimp was not cooked thoroughly. I will not return.

This one of my favorite hidden gems of Raleigh. The food is great and very tasty. The salsa bar has fresh made salsa that will suit everyone's tastes. My only complaint use to be about the size but now that they expanded and have more seating so that problem is solved!

Bartender was awesome! Fun time and good tacos. The chips were so really great, salty and crunchy, and we liked the salsa bar, so everyone could get their own liking. Reasonably priced good food.

Great food and atmosphere!

A nice casual spot to grab some tasty tacos and/or a beer, with a great fresh salsa bar.The only real problem is that the place is always dirty. Tables aren't wiped, the floor is always sticky and messy, tables are leveled with ugly and soggy stacks of cardboard coasters. I'm not super picky, but the lack of effort toward keeping things clean is glaringly obvious.

Tucked away quick service Mexican restaurant. Nice vibe, seating, bar and outside seating as well. Walk up ordering. Menu is pretty decent. Prices are low and fair. Salsa bar is great with many choices. Our meals tasted great. Kids meals are generous as well. 4 stars since it all came on plastic plates and styrofoam cups. If dining in....to match the restaurant feel this place already has....real plates that can be washed would be great and eco friendlier.

Superbly hot (and free) chips accompanied by assorted salsas. Cheap tacos with fresh ingredients and a fun atmosphere. Perfect post-NCMA trip meal.

Really good meats on the tacos, quick service, free chips, free salsa bar, fairly priced. What more could you ask for? Def heading back in the future.

They have expanded to twice the space. This place has a cool vibe! They have daily food specials. The wait staff was personable. Great salsa bar and they offer outside sitting.

Wendy is so awesome! This place has authentic tacos! They also have a lot to choose from! The sauces they let you pick from are great! The green sauce is good! Just great vibes when I was here! They treated me more than just a customer! I enjoyed it! Me and my family will definitely be back!

Relaxing area to have lunch. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. They punch was really good. They also have bar area for those that like to engage in the spirit beverages. I personally like to get taco salad. Definitely worth checking out if your in the area.

A very cool place! The staff was friendly and very helpful. They do have gluten free options too which was great for my friend. I wish they had more seating but I do love that they have a bar there. They do have a lot of outside seating but it's a bit cold this time of year. Their tacos were really good and I'd highly recommend their grilled shrimp taco. This is a good place to bring your adult friends too but also your kids as well.

This place is THE perfect taco bar. They have the three main types of tacos: steak, chicken, and pork with a couple of different options for each. I had the 3 taco combo and all three tacos were delicious. The combo also comes with a drink, rice and perfectly cooked beans. They have a salsa bar (with an legitimately hot salsa option) with limes and jalapenos for additional toppings. They also have a chips & queso side option that maxes out at enormous sizes. The chips come with a bit of light, wonderful seasoning. The staff is friendly and attentive and the prices are competitive, especially considering the excellent food quality. If I were to open a taco place, everything would be exactly like it is at Chubby's Tacos. It's simple, quick, cheap, and insanely delicious.

The food was nasty and the staff was otherwise rude and inattentive. Sat at the bar to have a beer and never had a bartender or other server even acknowledge us. Been a few months since we had been there and it looks like it will be a few more months before we care to try it again.

This place is worth every penny that said you get what you pay you pay for. I believe for 3.20 you are getting exactly that. Don't get me wrong it's not bad food it's good. I just would not go here with the expectation the food was going to blow your mind.

Good food, good prices, and quick service. The salsa is fresh and chips plentiful. Wendy, who was working during my visit, was fantastic. She took orders, stocked the salsa bar, cleaned the salsa bar, and ran food. I would happily eat here again.

Very cute atmosphere with tasty food. Some of the pork was a little dry the first time we went, but we tried some other dishes the next time and liked them. The salsa bar is a lot of fun too - good variety and fresh flavors. Everything is disposable except the silverware, so be careful not to toss them. I see how disposable is convenient, but reusable plates and cups would be nice from a sustainability standpoint. Overall I like this place and plan to go back

The food is very inexpensive and very tasty. I’ve been coming here at least once a week or more for about four years. The people who work there know by my first name. They had a problem with overcrowding but recently expanded so it’s much better. Still if you’re going during peak hours get there early.

Very good food. Priced right. Awesome salsa bar. Cold beer. Good atmosphere. Bar, table and outside seating. Kid friendly. I ordered 3 different tacos and they arrived quickly. Looking forward to getting back and trying something else off the menu.
